My college experience with technology consisted of punching cards. In more recent years, I've inherited the cast off computers of my children and used them for e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets. Whenever I costume a community theater production, I do research on the web to authentic the periods and get ideas from other productions. I took an overview of the four major Microsoft applications--Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint last fall at Palomar College. This spring, I took further classes in Word and PowerPoint. All this work was on PC's.
After earning a BA in Music and an MBA in Accounting/Finance, I did the "Mom Thing" volunteering in the kids classrooms, leading Girl Scouts, coaching soccer, and teaching 4H sewing. I've tutored young children in math and reading. Most recently I've been substitute teaching in the Primary grades. Currently, I am taking Prerequisite courses for a teaching credential. I have taken the CSET and am anxiously waiting to hear whether I passed all the sections.
I look forward to learning more about Macintosh computers. My daughter just bought me one which will arrive next week. I've been stymied by the Macs in classrooms where I've substituted. I'd love to do more PowerPoint presentations for some of the volunteer activities I'm involved with. I'm especially eager to learn how to use video technology. I've owned a camera for two years and have never touched it.
Hi Ann! I love your well-rounded educational and personal background. I converted to the Apple about two years ago and I have never looked back...I think you will really enjoy your new one. Maybe I will see you as we continue to work on our credential - what cohort did you request?
ReplyDeleteWelcome aboard. I don't mean to discourage you, but we can only survey a few technological tools for teaching and learning. We do not have enough time to go deep into content area applications of technology.
ReplyDeleteYou'll definitely learn how to edit a video clip.
